Pediatric dentistry is taught in the 4th year of BDS course. This subject deals with the diseases and developmental deformities of the or facial region of children. The first part of this course describes the principles of pediatric oral health management with special emphasis on growth and development. Theory and clinical training will be focused on the management of child behavior, rampant caries including fillings and temporary/metallic crowns and application of pit and fissure sealants. The second part describes the various oral pathological lesions, principles of oral health management and prevention of unhealthy oral habits in pediatric patients.
